How do I start a transfer to my Rocket Dollar IRA?

Rollover from IRA to a Rocket Dollar IRA

The IRA funds transfer process takes up the most time in the self-directed IRA funding process, please initiate the transfer request as soon as possible.

Once the funds are received to your Solera as custodian IRA account, they will be internally transferred to your FLAST RD LLC's Solera bank account, (or whatever custom LLC name you are using) ready for you to invest.

Transfer Teminology

You may hear or see terms about "Transfers" and "Rollovers." These are just describing ways to get money from one similar tax advantaged account to another. A rollover might come from a like IRA, or a 401(k). Generally, Traditional IRAs can take other Traditional IRAs, 

 

Transfer Request Process.

1. Log into Rocket Dollar. https://app.rocketdollar.com/login
2. Click "Add Funds" on the left side of the dashboard
3. Click "Transfer Funds"
4. "Transfer Amount", enter exact dollar amount if partial transfer and estimated dollar amount if full transfer.
5. Choose whether your transfer is a full or partial transfer.
6. "To - Transfer Source", pull down to Traditional IRA or ROTH IRA. Rocket Dollar can only accept the same tax status funds, Roths must already be converted before coming to Rocket Dollar unless you have a Traditional IRA and Roth IRA with our team and have discussed a conversion. 
7. "Transferring from", pull down to Traditional or ROTH IRA.
8. "Source Account Number", please enter the IRA account number with the IRA Custodian where your funds are currently held.
9. "Custodian Information", pull down to IRA Custodian where your funds are currently held. (if you do not see your Custodian, please see below)
10. "Statement Upload", please choose the folder location where a statement copy for your currently funded IRA is located, click on that file and click upload.
11. Download the Transfer document
11a. *Please note* Please "Print-to-PDF" to preserve the prefilled data on the form;
Save the PDF to desktop, before you actually paper print the "saved" PDF to complete the remaining steps. 
(If you attempt to directly print the prefilled form, it may print blank with none of the data visible)
12. Using Black ink, please sign and date, next to the word "signature"
13. Please scan the completed transfer document and upload it to Documents on your Rocket Dollar dashboard.
14. "Your request has been submitted" means transfer is in the Support Transfer queue waiting for review. We will reach out to you if any additional changes or information are needed.

 

As a reminder; Please confirm with your current IRA custodian that you have sold enough investments to Cash/Money Market funds. Funds must be available for this transfer request to process.


This Transfer Request form will NOT act as a “sell order” to your current IRA custodian, it will be rejected if the funds are not available as Cash/Money Market.***

 

What if I do not see my losing IRA custodian listed?

Please attach a copy of your current IRA statement and we will reach out to that IRA Custodian to confirm their receiving transfer out request requirements. We will then add their profile to our system and request you to complete steps 1-12 above.

 

Rollover from a Workplace Retirement Plan

1. Please login to your Rocket Dollar dashboard and initiate the Rollover Certification form. (step by step below) https://app.rocketdollar.com/login
This form is required by Solera National Bank, your new IRA custodian to receive the funds to your IRA.

  • "Add Funds" - Located on the left menu
  • "Transfer funds" - Top button
  • Transfer Destination=Traditional IRA
  • If you don't see your Plan's Trustee/Custodian, please shoot us an email and we will assist you. Plan Trustee/Custodian info is in alphabetical order.

 

2. When rolling over from a Workplace Qualified plan, you must "push" the funds out of the plan by reaching out to your HR/plan provider and personally initiate the rollover.
They will most likely only be willing to mail check to the address of record.
Have them make out the check to:
Solera Natl Bank FBO {Customer Name IRA type IRA acct #}

 

3. If they are willing to send directly to your IRA custodian, Solera National Bank (more than likely they will only be willing to mail a check to the address of record; your home)

4. I have attached delivery instructions for your reference and for if they are willing to WIRE the funds to your account. (additional fee may be charged by the old plan provider for wire).

Rollover Certification Process.
1. Log into Rocket Dollar.
2. Click "Add Funds" - Located on the left menu
3. Click "Transfer funds" - Top button
4. "Transfer Source", pull down to either 401k, 403B, etc.
5. "Custodian Information", pull down to Custodian/Plan Provider where your funds are currently held.
If you don't see your Plan's Trustee/Custodian, please shoot us an email and we will assist you. Plan Trustee/Custodian info is in alphabetical order.
6. "Statement Upload", please choose the folder location where a statement copy from your currently funded old workplace plan is located, click on that file and open.
7. Once you upload a copy of your statement, you will be prompted to digitally sign a Rollover Certification form via Hellosign.
8. Once you digitally sign, your form will flow into our transfer/rollover queue for our review. After reviewing, we will send it over to our IRA Custodian partners at Solera.
9. At this time, please use the delivery instructions below to send your rollover funds.
